Let’s dive into the details!

South Australian Government Updates

DAMA Consultations

The South Australian Government is seeking feedback on the next phase of its Designated Area Migration Agreements (DAMAs), which include:

  • Adelaide Technology and Innovation Advancement Agreement

  • South Australian Regional Workforce Agreement

Both agreements are set to expire in June 2025. Businesses, industry associations, and other stakeholders can submit written feedback to dsd.migrationpolicy@sa.gov.au by 31 December 2024.

This consultation provides an excellent opportunity to shape the future of skilled migration in South Australia. For further details, visit the South Australian Government website.

General Skilled Migration – High Interest Occupations

The 2024–2025 General Skilled Migration Program in South Australia has seen unprecedented interest in certain occupations, such as chefs, motor mechanics, and enrolled nurses, exceeding the available quota.

If you work in these fields, it may be worth exploring alternative options, like the South Australian DAMA Program. Despite the high demand, weekly invitations continue to be issued to eligible applicants living and working in South Australia across all occupations.

Our migration agents are here to guide you through your options and help you choose the best pathway for your circumstances.

ANMAC Initiatives

GradReady Initiative

On 8 November 2024, ANMAC launched the GradReady initiative, which allows overseas-born nursing and midwifery graduates to apply for their Modified Skills Assessment immediately after completing their course requirements, even before receiving AHPRA registration.

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Have applied to AHPRA for registration.

  • Be living in Australia.

Once AHPRA registration is granted, the Modified Skills Assessment will be finalized. For more information, contact GradReady@anmac.org.au or visit the ANMAC website.

GuideME Initiative

Introduced on 1 November 2024, the GuideME initiative offers 30-minute phone consultations for $195 AUD, providing expert pre-assessment guidance for applicants, migration agents, and employers.

For further details, reach out to GuideME@anmac.org.au or visit the ANMAC website.

MATES Program (Mobility Arrangements for Talented Early-Professionals Scheme)

The MATES program, introduced under the Migration Amendment Regulations 2024, allows Indian graduates and early-career professionals to live and work in Australia for up to two years on a Subclass 403 (Temporary Work (International Relations)) visa.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Aged 18–30 with a valid Indian passport.

  • Hold a qualification in fields such as renewable energy, ICT, artificial intelligence, or engineering.

  • Register for the pre-application ballot process.

This program offers 3,000 places annually, with primary visa holders permitted a 24-month stay and dependents enjoying unlimited work rights.

Skills in Demand (SID) Visa and National Innovation Visa (NIV)

Skills in Demand (SID) Visa

The SID visa, which will replace the TSS visa, provides skilled workers a pathway to permanent residency through three streams:

  1. Specialist Skills Stream: For highly skilled workers earning at least $135,000.

  2. Core Skills Stream: Based on a new Core Skills Occupation List and Core Skills Income Threshold.

  3. Labour Agreement Stream: Previously the TSS Labour Agreement Stream.

A key update includes reducing work experience requirements to just one year. The SID visa is set to launch by the end of 2024.
